"Our lives have never made more sense than they do right now," Bowersox said. "I can't believe how incredibly lucky we are to have found so much laughter, love, and light within each other. We're one happy WalkerSox family."
In keeping with her Earth-mother style, Bowersox wore a hemp and cotton gown featuring macramé and seashell accents that was created in a Vermont designer's solar-powered studio. The 60 friends and family at the ceremony included Bowersox's 1½-year-old son, Tony, who served as the ring bearer. Also on hand were "Idol" castmate Didi Benami and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" actor Lance Barber.
The ceremony was performed by the right reverend Michael Teach of the Chicago Acoustic Underground and the reception featured performances by Walker and some of his musical friends.
Sox tweeted about the blessed event, writing "Officially Mamasox!!! ... I meant walkersox!!! Hahaha that's hilarious. :)" In lieu of gifts, the couple have requested that fans make donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund; Bowersox suffers from diabetes.
"So many people have asked about sending a wedding gift for Brian and me," Bowersox told fans on her official website. "As much as we appreciate it, we are very lucky and have all that we could possibly need. If you feel that you would still like to send something, please consider making a donation to JDRF's 'Crystal Bowersox Research Fund.' "
Bowersox is still working on her major-label debut. "Idol" pal and season nine winner Lee DeWyze announced last week that he will drop his major-label bow, Live It Up, on November 16. No release date has been announced for Bowersox's album.
